Lillet

As we re-emerge into the real-world, we’re trying to dial back the house-arrest-induced wine consumption. This summery sip is an ideal way to treat yourself to something special but limit the booze intake.

Meet: Lillet.

Lillet is a French wine, similar to vermouth.  (Technically it’s a blend of wine and citrus liquors, aged in oak.  Its ABV is higher than wine but lower than hard alcohol.)  It isn’t overly sweet but includes honey, herbal, citrus, and floral flavors.

Inspired by Chris’s family, here’s our favorite way to enjoy it:  Put a few large ice cubes in a stemmed glass, add 1-3 oz of Lillet, then fill to the top with sparkling water.  Drop in a large piece of orange peel for the piece de resistance.  Et voila.

Alternatively, you can sip it on the rocks, or with tonic instead of club soda.

Let us know how you like it in the comments below! Happy sippin’!
